“Problem-solving” and mediation

There are, increasingly, expectations that human-services disputes (such as between local authority and individual client) are not only amenable to mediation, but that such interventions should be offered in appropriate instances.  The public law courts are increasingly asking 'whether' every effort has been made to mediate where difficulties arise.

My extensive experience in social work practice confirms the truism that “out there” can be found many situations where the entrenched positions of the respective parties have created an absolute impasse, with no prospect of moving on for either.

Whilst I do not have formal qualifications in mediation,  I do have specific experience of problem-solving between social services departments and their clients, both as a one-off single event, and also over a time-limited period in order to generate movement and more purposeful and positive relationships.  In each instance, the process has been highly effective and constructive.  I have, in specific situations, been appointed both by local authorities themselves and also by solicitors to 'problem solve' the (seemingly) most complex and immovable of circumstances.

I am very willing to discuss options for such intervention with any potential party.
