Allegations of poor practice in social services operations

Regrettably, the ‘human services’ profession, fundamentally based on caring for and nurturing the most vulnerable of individuals, “gets it wrong” on occasions. Where this happens, there is, understandably, an obligation on the body responsible to be accountable for its actions and/or inactions. I have undertaken a number of complex investigations regarding allegations of, and examples of, poor practice within social welfare services, including abuse in children’s homes, alleged abuse in adult day and residential services, assaults on staff in adult services, and also ‘neglect’ by day service providers. Having been in practice since the mid 1970s, I have extensive knowledge of changes in legislation and professional practice standards over a period of thirty years. This provides a relevant background to all such investigations whether the allegation concerns a claimant, or a defendant individual or organisation. Informal enquiries would be welcome.
